girl geek gear

so I decided that since my obsession of geeky items can get out of control, I decided to share it with the world by creating a girl geek gear blog.
Since there isn't a lot of sites or blogs out there dedicated to girly geeky gear, I decided to make one.
http://girlgeekgear.blogspot.com/

Suggestions? Let me know!

here...

I decided to switch over tshirts to alternative apparel.
So out with the old in the new(ish).
Some of my designs will be gone forever (once they sell out).
But some will still continue to be around.

For example, I am keeping my geek and crossbones design because frankly, I love it too much to let it go.
I am working on some new designs that hopefully will do well enough so that they'll stick around for a while too.

In the mean time, I'm going to slowly start to introduce the new shirts or at least newish shirts.

The shirts I am using are new (meaning I haven't use alternative apparel in my shop previously) but the design has already existed.
Get it? Yeah? No? Maybe?

Well, either way, enjoy.
The alternative apparel shirts are super comfy and soft.

I heart nerds

I love mythbusters. Reassuring everyone that I really an a nerd.
But nerds are in, right? RIGHT!?

Anyway, I learned a lot from Mythbusters. Now whether they can be 100% conclusive with their findings, I don't know, but its just so fun to watch.
Here are some things that I have learned:

- Pirates use the eye patch to be able to have a night adjusted eye.
(above possibility reassures that pirates were cool and smart)
- daddy long legs can bite through our skin, and their venom is not deadly
- When blown through a cannon, certain cheeses can be deadly.
- Beer before liquor not necessarily sicker
- room temperature beer + ice + salt = cold beer in 5 minutes
- I want their job
- a car with their windows down saves more on gas then turning on the AC
- etc

What would I have done without you mythbusters?
Gotten the same geeky information via the internet? BORING!
Watching then try to figure it out and in the process be nerds and/or make fools of yourself is so much better.

Thanks.
Love,
Jess

P.S - I LOVE those guys but not enough to eat my cat.
Don't know what I am talking about? Go here: http://www.mileysavefuzzy.com/

P.P.S - No that apparently is not a joke. She's as "serious as a heart attack"

P.P.P.S - yes, that is an actual quote.

I'll do it again

I have mentioned before that I'm a geek.
I really am.
I really like computers and working with them.
I like Star Wars, technology and wearing glasses. Granted I like wearing glasses because it helps me see things. Especially when driving so that I don't hit things.
Or people.

Here are other hints that I'm a geek:
- I read geekologie.com and gizmodo.com every day.
- I taught myself HTML because I wanted to know it
- I really wanted a spider man kids shirt that saw at Old Navy but it's meant for a little boy so it doesn't fit me right.
- I enjoy playing video games once in a while
- I made this shirt.

Enough said.

forcing it

So I'm a geek. I'll admit it.
And my geekiness will not allow me to ignore the fact that today is Star Wars Day.
This is the first time I have heard of it (so I'm not a good geek) so I used good old Wikipedia to help guide me. For those of you scratching your head in wonder and curiosity here's the link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Day

Yup, a play on words.
My geekiness cannot avoid this pun either. Star Wars and a pun put together. Amazing.
I can already hear the Star Wars theme tune in my head.

walkin'

Dear Christopher Walken,

So you may not actually want to run for president, but did you know you have a sleuth of followers that would give you their vote?
There are other celebrities that have gone into the political realm.
Look at Arnold Swarchenegger, Ronald Regan, and Jesse Ventura.
I think you have a fighting chance.

With much love,
Me.
Who's a geek.
whatever!

happy places, sad faces

Went to a roller derby on Saturday which was fun.
I like seeing women go around and try to shove each other off their skates.
One woman who was sitting on a camping chair (in the audience), got a skate to the shin. She didn't even flinch. She was more worried about loosing her purple ball of yarn.

Yes she was knitting.
No I'm not kidding.

I wonder what she was knitting.

Anyway, while I was there, this was staring back at me.
staring back at me

Darth Vader tried his death grip on me but I'm much more badass.
Sorry, my geeky side of me got excited about seeing the Vader mask.

On another note... this weekend I spray painted those tacky gold frames I mentioned on my last posting and got them looking nice.
I then painted directly on the glass and didn't bother putting a back on the frames.
This is the result.
